The following pie charts illustrate the percentage of water consumption by the farming sector, products, and its income generation in Australia over the year 2014.
From an overall perspective, it has been observed that the fruit sector’s income saw the highest proportion, while the livestock sector’s income dropped significantly over the given time. However, sugar remained steady.
As can be seen, in 2014, the biggest percentage of demand for water among farming consumers was livestock at 36%, but the money received from them was the lowest percentage at 5%. However, fruit had the second highest proportion of consumers with 21%, but it had the best earnings with 36%. Whereas the proportion of water used for dairy was 14%, more than rice at 5%.
Moreover, the income gained from dairy was just 2% more than rice at 21%. It is worth noting that the figure for sugar and other products was equal to that of the money earned by them.
