The given graph compares each European citizen from certain groups of ages in term of the proportion of time spending in the gyms once month or more in 1990 – 2010 period.
Overall, the figure for 18 – 24 group witnessed a sudden decrease in the last period as opposed to an all time upward trend which was recorded for that of 3 others age groups. Furthermore, the people from 18 to 24 devoting their time in the gym was the highest among 4 distinct age groups despite the aforementioned fall.
Starting at the highest point of 10 percent, the 25 – 34 group was the most enthusiastic for the gym in 1990. The figure for 25-34 group experienced a steady rise in the following periods until it peaked at exact 50 percent in 2010. The percentage of 18-24 group spending in the gym rose dramatically, especially in the end of 1994-1998 period. Due to the significant increase, it overtook the figure for 25-34 group to become the highest proportion of age group who went to gyms.
Sharing the similar trend, the figure for 35 to 44 group rose noticeably by nearly 2 percent which was equivalent to that of 45 and over group. Afterwards, the proportion of people aged 35-44 spending their time in the gym rocketed up before it hit the highest point of 40 percent exactly. Conversely, the figure for 45 and over group maintained unchanged for a while before also rose up to peak at approximately 21 percent.
