The chart demonstrates how many people from various age group in Europe frequented the gym over the period between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the youngest age group, the 18-23s, bottomed the list throughout the period under study.
As can be seen from the line graph, people aged 34 to 53 accounted for most of the visits to the gym. Initially, people falling into the 44-to-53 age group ranked first, with above 15% in 1990. Next came the 34-43s, which was responsible for only a few less percent. Some distinctions can be drawn between these two age groups. As for the Europeans between 34 and 43 years old, the figure witnessed a considerable increase over the period between 1998 and 2006, then experienced a sharp decline 4 years later. By contrast, that of the 44-53s saw an upward trend during the same timeline.
As regards the younger age groups, both the figure for 18-23s and 24-33s fluctuated slightly from 5 to 10 percent. Therefore, the ranking order remained unchanged by the end of the given time frame.
