In London, holidays accounted for the largest share of visits, at around 50%, followed by business trips at 40%. Visiting friends or relatives and miscellaneous reasons were much less significant, both below 20%. In Edinburgh, however, business was the dominant reason, making up approximately 70% of visits, while holidays were much lower, at 30%. The other two categories remained under 20%.
Manchester had a more balanced pattern, with holiday and business visits each at about 30%, followed by visiting friends at 20%. Birmingham mirrored Edinburgh, with business trips leading at 60%, and holiday and visiting friends both slightly above 20%. Finally, Liverpool saw the highest percentage of holiday visits (40%), with business trips at 30% and visiting friends just over 20%. Miscellaneous visits were consistently the lowest across all cities.
