For the year 1990 and 2010 the diagram that follows illustrates the percentage of charitable donations made by British people based on age.
In general, a larger percentage of British people made charitable donation in 1990 in comparison to 2010 expect for people who were 50 years and older. Observation also shows that more elderly persons donated to charity in comparison to the younger population.
In the year 1990 approximately 42% of middle-aged people between ages 36-50 made the highest donations on record. In that same year the lowest donations were made by young adults between the ages of 18-25, they only contributed approximately 17%. In comparison to the year 2010, charitable donations fell significantly to 35% and 7% for the above-mentioned age groups. The amount of charitable donations made to the age 26-35 also experience a decrease from 32% in 1990 to 24% in 2010.
Even though donations where down in the year 2010, there was a steady increase which saw person ages 51-65 making a record high contribution of 38% for that year. The amount contributed for person over 65yrs was slightly lower, however it was still slightly higher compared to the figures in the year 1990.
