The pie charts provide a comprehensive breakdown on the distribution of three types of nutrients namely: sodium, saturated fat, added sugar in an average meal consumed in the USA. Overall, despite the variations, the data reveals that sodium and saturated fats are predominantly consume during dinner, whereas the Americans mainly snack on added sugar.
For sodium, higher intake was noted during dinner which accounts for 43%, followed closely by 29% during lunch time. Breakfast and snacks were minimally consumed, both have the same record of 14%. Similarly with saturuted fat, 37% was eaten at dinner, the value dropped significantly to 26% at lunch, and further to 16% in between meals.
Conversely, dialy intake of added sugar follows an opposite trajectory, 42% was consume as snacks. Unlike sodium and saturated, the comsumption drop to 23% at dinner, 19% for snacks and minimally 16% for breakfast.
In conclusion, while dialy dietry intake of sodium and saturated follow a similary trend with high consumption at dinner, added sugar has shown to be different, majority of the population snack on it.
