The pie charts illustrate the proportion of families with by earning members of the family, in Canada, in two years 1976 and 2014.
Overall, in both years, families with dual-earner couples and couples with single earner father was dominant over the rest. Although there were more families with couples, single earner father in 1976, it was soon dominated by families having dual-earner couples in 2014.
In brief, he proportion of the families having couples with only father earning, was more than half of the total families whereas about one-third families had dual-earning couples in 1976. While the former, declined sharply from 51% in 1976 to 17% in 2014 there was a great surge in latter that increased from 33% in 1976 to 55% in 2014.
On the other hand, among the rest four categories, families with female lone earner is seen sighnificantly higher in both charts. Among the remaining four, three of these seems to have increased a bit except for the familes with male loan earners, which has decreased from 5% in 1976 to 3% in 2014.
