The four pie charts compare the global market shares of three computer operating systems (OS1, OS2, and OS3) and a category labeled “Others” between 2012 and 2015.
Overall, in 2012, the “Others” category had the highest share at 48%, but it declined sharply in the following years. By contrast, OS1 grew steadily and dominated the market from 2013 onwards, while OS2 and OS3 maintained relatively smaller proportions.
In 2012, “Others” was the leading category, surpassing OS1, OS2, and OS3. However, from 2013 to 2015, the share of “Others” plummeted to just 15%, whereas OS1 rose from around 38% to 52%, making it the most popular operating system by the end of the period. Meanwhile, OS2 remained fairly stable, beginning at 15% in 2012 and increasing marginally to 18% in 2015. OS3 also fluctuated slightly, hovering between 15% and 17% and consistently recording the smallest proportion among the three named operating systems.
