Overall, in terms of purpose, the majority visited for holiday while employment and other reasons were minimal. It is clear that most visitors came from Asia when the smallest proportion was other regions.
Looking at the regional distribution, highest percentage of visitors came from Asia representing at 28%. Europe and New Zealand showed comparable figures, at 22% and 21% respectively. North America followed with a slightly lower proportion of 19%. By contrast, China contributed a more modest share at 11%, while visitors from other regions made up the smallest segment, at 5%.
Regarding the purpose of visit, holiday travel clearly constitued the largest proportion, at 60%, which was significantly higher than all other categories. Business trips were the second most common reason, accounting for 18% of visitors. Meanwhile, education and employment represented much smaller shares, at 9% and 5% respectively. Finally, other purposes were minimal, comprising only 2% of the total.
