Overall, it is clear that USA and China experienced the most significant increasing volume of carbon emissions. However, the total amount of pollution in Germany and UK, had gradual declines, Canada and India showed moderate icreases.
Looking at the details, the USA and China, both countries experienced significant increases in carbon emissions over the period. The USA remained the largest emitter throughout, rising from approximately 1.2 million thousand metric tonnes in 1975 to around 1.6 million in 2005. China also showed a dramatic upward trend, with emissions increasing from about 300,000 to roughly 1.5 million thousand metric tonnes, making it the second-highest emitter by the end of the period.
By contrast, Germany and the United Kingdom recorded gradual declines in emissions. Germany’s figure fell from around 300,000 thousand metric tonnes in 1975 to about 200,000 in 2005, while the UK decreased from approximately 200,000 to 150,000. Canada showed only a slight increase, from around 120,000 to nearly 180,000 thousand metric tonnes. Similarly, India remained the smallest contributor despite a steady rise, with emissions growing from about 50,000 to approximately 300,000 thousand metric tonnes by 2005.
