This chart illustrates the proportions of time spent on leisure and physical activities divided by two age groups in the USA in 2015.
Overall, there were a variety of activities preferences among generations. However, watching TV formed the majority of both age groups, while sport activities show the unpopularity among US residents. Interestingly, activities that are purposed to self-education are more likely to be done by older age groups.
Starting with the leading sector, TV watching had the highest proportions of both age groups showing 4,5 hours for citizens aged 75 and over which is almost half of the rate of the youngest group, 2,4 hours. Computers are mostly used for games and leisure by people aged between 15 to 19 spending 1,1 hours a day on average compared to only 30 minutes of the oldest group which is nearly a half. As for communicating, proportions of both generations are almost equal, showing 0,8 for the youngest and 0,7 hours for people aged 75 and over.
Turning to the rest, leisure like reading illustrates the following stats: 0,2 hours for young people and 1 hour for the oldest, which is 5 times much more time spent on average. Similar situation can be seen in relaxing, as their figures presented that only 6 minutes are spent by youth compared to 0,6 hours of older residents. Finally, sports tend to be popular among youngsters with 0,6 hours spent daily in comparison with 12 minutes on average by the oldest group.
