The bar chart illustrates the average daily hours spent by Americans aged 15-19 and 75 and over in different entertainment and sporting activities in 2015.
Overall, watching television was the most popular activity for both categories, while relaxing was the least favourable activity for young people, and the older population disliked doing sports.
On average, old people spent 4.5 hours daily watching TV, while the youngsters spent almost half of this time on TV. Meanwhile, reading took up an hour daily for old people, compared to roughly 10 minutes for young ones. Conversely, people aged 15-19 dedicated more than one hour per day to games and computer use, unlike the older group, who spent half of this time on these activities.
Moving to the least popular activities, socialising accounted for around 0.7 hours daily for each group. Similarly, sports and exercise accounted for just over half an hour and 20 minutes for young and old Americans, respectively. In comparison to young people, older people spend double the time on relaxation and thinking, at roughly 40 minutes daily.
