In general, Sydney has the longest commute and Adelaide has the shortest. In addition, the average commute time between cities is not too different.
Starting at 35 minutes in 2002, the average time commuters spent travelling to work each day in Sydney gradually increased and peaked at nearly 38 minutes in 2008. After that, the figure has dropped slightly and people there spend only 36 minutes commuting to work in 2010. The average number of minutes commuters spend commuting to work in Perth started at 26 minutes in 2002, after which it remained constant until the following year then increased sharply to nearly 35 minutes in 2010. It can be seen that the amount of time people spend going to work in the two cities is quite different in the first years.
Brisbane residents spent 27 minutes commuting to work in 2002 then steadily increased to over 35 minutes in 2008 then decreased slightly to 34 minutes in 2010. The average time commuters spent travelling to work each day in Adelaide started at 24 minutes in 2002 then increased sharply to 28 minutes in 2006. There was a significant decrease to 25 phút in 2008, after it decreased further and returned to its original 24 minutes in 2010.
