The line graph delineates the data regarding the commission of three types of crime (robberies, car theft, and burglaries) in New Port city center from 2003 to 2012. From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there are declining tendencies for both incidents of burglaries and car thefts albeit to varying degrees, while robbery cases increased marginally. In the first half of the period, the cases of burglaries were on decline before being surpassed by car theft crimes which ranked highest till the end of the period, while robberies were the least common throughout the period.
In 2003, the perpetration of burglaries was prevalent at nearly 3,500 incidents per annum. The data point rose and peaked at 3,750 in the following year prior to plunging dramatically and bottom out at 1,100 in 2008, a slight uptick was detailed in 2009 when the figure stabilized at a level consistently below 1,500 incidents from 2009 to 2012. In terms of cases of car thefts, the figure began at 2,800 and remained relatively stable for the next 2 years, before an abrupt downtick to 2,000 in 2006 and an upward fluctuation to reach 2,750 in 2012.
In contrast, the figure of the commission of robbery theft started with just over 500 incidents in 2003 and increasing to almost 1,000 in 2005, experiencing a moderate erratic trend throughout the period to conclude it at 750 in 2012.
