The graph reports the number of crimes by category (burglary, car theft, robbery) per year in the “inner city” from 2003 to 2013. During this time span it can be noted that car thefts fluctuated and then restabilized almost at the initial level, a similar pattern is followed by robberies. Conversely, the registered burglaries reduced significantly during the period.
If we analyse more in depth amounts of car thefts and robberies, we notice that they both increased from 2004 to 2005, almost reaching 3000 and 1000 respectively. Afterwards, we notice a slight decrease in both categories, with car theft registering the lowest amount in 2006 with just more than 2000 cases while robberies registered their all-time lowest record in 2008 with 500 episodes. In the most recent years, both car thefts and robberies rose
restabilizing around the initial level in 2012.
Burglaries follow a completely different pattern. After a steady rise from 2003 to 2004, the amount has fallen dramatically untill 2008 reaching its minimum around 1100 cases. Later, the amount climbed slightly and stabilized around 1400 from 2009 to 2012.
