The graph indicates three types of crime that were perpetrated in a 9-year period, in Newport city centre. These crimes are burglary, car theft, and robbery.
At first, in 2003, robbery was the highest committed crime in this city; the number of criminals involved in this crime was about 3500. After one year, it rose to its peak, approximately 3700 criminals. Then it decreased gradually, and after the lowest point, it remained at about under 1500.
Car theft was in second place. The number of crimes committed was just under 3000 in 2003. Then it fell to 2000 criminals, but finally it rose and reached 3000 again. Between 2006 and 2007, car theft outnumbered burglary, and became the top committed crime.
Robbery had the least number of perpetrators. It started with about 600, and after a slight rise, it fluctuated between 500 and 600 criminals.
In short, in 2013 burglary was the first ranked crime, but in 2012, the most crime was committed by car theft.
