The line graph illustrates transformations of three different kinds of criminal activities, including burglary, car theft, and robbery, in Newport City Centre over a 10-year period between 2003 and 2012.
Overall, the number of burglary acts gradually decreased, while car theft kept on rising towards the end of the period. The act of robbery fluctuated through the years but did not experience any dramatic changes and was always the least in numbers amongst other misdeeds.
To begin with, the number of burglary and car theft cases that happened at the beginning of the period was quite high, with about 3700 and 2700 respectively. In reverse, there were just above 500 cases for robbery in the same year, which later peaked at approximately 900 in 2005 before fluctuating and ending its final year with around 700 incidents.
On the other hand, the number of burglary victims reached a peak at around 3800 in 2004, but dramatically declined over the years, and there were only just below 1500 incidents in 2012. In contrast, car theft acts increased slowly but surely over the period and ended up at the same level as its first year.
