The line graph illustrates how crime of rates altered in Newport inner city during the period from 2003 to 2012.

Overall, all figures decrease, albeit to varying degrees. Notably, the figure for car theft dominated in initially, but robbery lead in the end. Additionally, the change in number was recorded in burglary.

In 2003, we can that burglary was the common crime, with approximately 3,400, after that the figure rose slightly to just under 3,800 in 2004. After that, the figure declined dramatically from approximately 3,800 to 1600 between 2007 and 2008. There was a fluctuation in the number of burglary at 1500 between 2007 and 2009. After which, there figure level off from 2009 to 2012.

In contrast, in both numbers of car theft and robbery were similarly level off in 3 years period from 2003 and 2005. After that, the number of car theft fell markedly from, declining from 2,800 between 2005 and 2006. Car theft was increase slightly over the period from 2000 in 2006 to 2500 in 2012.

At this point the figure for robbery by person declined slightly from around 700 to 500, After that the number of robbery had increased to around 700. Finally, theft from the person fluctuated between 2010 and 2012.
