Overall, in general, men dominated in percentage in qualifications such as postgraduate diploma and skilled diplomas, even though women took the major part of undergraduate diplomas and bachelor’s degrees.
With the huge gap between, men with skilled vocational diploma were 90%. Then by the dominance in the percentage, were male Australian that outnumbered women by 40%. Masters degree students and bachelor’s degree students were relatively balanced, as the disparency between them did not exceeded 20%.
However, the major proportion of the women population of Australia got undergraduate diplomas, so their proportion were 70%. In addition, despite the number being quite even, they also surpassed men with 50% in proportion it graduating bachalor degree.
In conclusion, in the end of twentieth century, Australian men were more ambitious to get other degree rather than undergraduate diploma.
