The chart illustrates the number of people employed in five different categories of occupation in a region of Australia for the years 2001 and 2008.
Overall, it is noticeable that sales was the most popular job, while computing and nursing also saw significant growth. In contrast, accounting and farming experienced decline in the figure for employees over the period.
In 2001, the number of people employed in sales reached the peak of workers, with around 160,000 employees, before increasing slightly more in 2008. Similarly, the number of nurses went up from 50,000 to 60,000 respectively during the same period. Computing also saw a strong growth in employment, rising from almost 60,000 in 2001 to approximately 80,000 workers in 2008.
On the contrary, accounting experienced a small decrease of around 60,000 employees in 2008, whereas farming recorded the lowest figures in both years, dropping from 30,000 to nearly 20,000 workers.
