The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian residents who were born in various other countries from 1976 to 2011. Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that total number of people from other countries living in Australia fluctuated but rose in the end. Although citizens from Asia were lowest but surpassed those from UK that held second position in the beginning of the period; also, people from other countries increased slightly.
Starting at approximately 3%, the proportion of people who came from Asia increased throught the period and reached its peak of 15 percent in the end of the year. The percentage of people from UK maintaned the lead despite it was decreasing from 14% to 9% (in 15 years). Likewise, residents form other places also showed a noticeable decrease from 10 to 7, but it showed opposite trend after 1991 reaching 14%. While the figure for UK was declining considerably and was the lowest with 5%,the percentage for other dip slightly and was second after Asia with 13%.
Initially, the total number of Australians from other places consisted of 28% this number fluctuated and in 2001 it recovered it’s initial position and grew to 32%.
