Between 1978 to 2008, Japan saw a steady decline in the income difference, coming down to about 40% by the year 2008. By contrast, Australia saw a plateau between 1978 and 1998 but then gain a dramatic increase, coming from around 20% to 25%, overtaking France’s spot by 2008. For US, France, and the UK, all three countries can be seen having a minimal decrease in the income difference with about 30% for the US and UK and around 20% for France by 2008.
