Overall, computer ownership increased in all countries over the ten-year period. Singapore had the highest percentage of households with a computer in both years, while Indonesia consistently recorded the lowest figures.
In 2000, less than half of households in each country owned a computer, with Singapore leading at 45%, followed by Malaysia at 38%. Thailand and Vietnam had considerably lower proportions, at 25% and 18% respectively, while Indonesia had the smallest share, at just 15%.
By 2010, the figures had risen significantly across all nations. Singapore experienced the most substantial growth, reaching 78%, while Malaysia followed with 65%. Thailand and Vietnam roughly doubled their percentages to 52% and 42%. Although Indonesia also saw growth, it remained the lowest, increasing modestly to 36%.
