To start with, in 1950, about 50% of the population who were born in Australia lived in the cities, 20% in towns, and 30% in rural areas. However, in 2010, over 65% of people lived in urban areas, and both towns and countryside decreased in percentage, likely 15% each. Discussing the data about people who were born outside Australia, the correlation seems to be the same. In 1950, 60% of the population lived in the cities, 40% in rural areas, and only 10% in towns. In 2010, about 80% of people lived in towns. The percentage of people living in rural areas dropped dramatically, 5% only left. In contrast, the rate of people who lived in the towns remained the same.
