The bar chart illustrates the rate of population in urban areas worldwide and in six different regions, in the years 1975, 2020, and 2050 prediction. Overall, most regions have an upward trend in percentage, except for one.
In 1975, 40% of the population globally prefers urbanization, which significantly increased to almost 60% in 2020 and will continue to rise to slightly under 70% in 2050. Forecast in the rates of Africa and Asia are near the worldwide percentage, although these two were the least urbanized regions back in 1975. Their population rose to 43% and 50% respectively in 2020, however, they still remained as the least in urbanization.
On the other hand, Europe, Latin America, and North America have high predictions, with almost four-fifths by 2050, making North America as the most urbanized region with not over than 80%.
Lastly, Oceana had little variations in its graph. Its population decreased at least by 1% in 2020, but will go back again to 70% in 2050.
