The six pie charts provide information on the proportion of water used at homes, industries and for agricultural purposes in different parts of the world.
The domestic utilization of water seems to be the lowest in all six regions of the world varying from 7 per cent in Central and South East Asia to 19 per cent in South America. Europe and Africa consume 15 per cent and 9 per cent of water resources for household activities.
On the other hand, industries and agriculture use different amounts of water depending on the area. Roughly three quarters of the water in South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia is used for agriculture. Similarly, North America and Europe utilize about half of the water available for the functioning of industries. Overall, the majority of regions consume the least amount of water for domestic activities and the most amount of water for agricultural purposes.
