The bar chart presents the percentage of household waste that were recycled in a town. The data is measured in percentage from four distinct categories, such as, plastic, cans, paper, and glass. From an overall perspective, recycling trend for household waste has consistently improved over time, except cans that has a fluctuate trajectory in a decade.
Plastic, paper and glass were shown a consistent recyclying growth within household category. in 1992, Recycled plastic was the least popular product with 10% . However, the trend was increased to just above 10%, despite unaltered number of recycled plastic in the last five years’ period. Similar growth was seen from paper and glass, from around 25% and 15% in 1992, the popularity of recycling paper and glass have surge dramatically to below 40% and 50% in 10 years, making glass as the most recycled product in 2022.
In contrast, cans performed a non-linear trend of popularity. Despite the overall positive growth trend from 1992 with nearly 20% and 2022 with around 25%, cans encountered a major dip in the first five year’ of period. In 1997, the trend of recycling cans decreased to above 10% before skyrocketed to above 20% in 2022, almost twice the trend in 1997.
