The line graph gives information about how the price of 800 grams of four types of bread – wholegrain, brown, white, and rye – changed between 2001 and 2005 in one European country.
Overall, all types of bread saw price changes over the period, with brown bread experiencing the most significant growth. In contrast, the price of rye bread remained the cheapest.
Looking first at the increases, the prices for brown, white, and rye were similar in 2001, at approximately 0.6. The price of brown bread then climbed sharply to 1.5 in 2002, dipped slightly, and peaked again at 1.6 in 2005. White bread followed a more stable upward trend, rising steadily to reach about 1.3 by 2005. Rye, however, remained the least expensive throughout the period, dropping slightly in 2002 before gradually increasing to 0.8 in 2005.
In contrast, wholegrain bread started at 0.8 and rose dramatically to 1.8 euros in 2002. After this peak, the price fell sharply to 0.6 in 2004, before recovering slightly to around 0.8 by 2005.
