The figures for purchase by wholesale depicted a gradual growth from 40% in 2015 to above 60% in 2019. A dramatic increase of purchase was observed in construction, from above 20% to around 55% over four years. The rates for purchase by manufacturing indicated a considerable rise, from around 30% in 2019 to almost 60% in 2019, including a sharp increase of above 50% in 2016.
In summary, all five Canadian industries gradually increased their online purchases from 2015 to 2019. Information and communications depicted a slight increase and remained the highest-spending sector, while retail, construction, and manufacturing remained relatively consistent towards the end of the period.
