Overall, the number of males learning were outrun by females in all subjects, except in Art and Design. In most subjects, male were surpassed by females in small numbers, however, in philosophy there is a huge difference.
In 2011, approximately 170 men studied linguistics while around 240 women studied it. In philosophy only a quarter of students were male. The number of male English language and literature students were around 230, while there were 250 females.
There were around 90 men studying history and archeology while, approximately 120 female students studied it. However, around 170 male students were learning art and design while around 150 females were studying it, which is the only subject which has more males than females.
