Overall, while the percentage of respondents interested in football, swimming, and rugby all increased, the opposite trend was observed in snooker, tennis, and golf. Notably, football remained the most favourite among surveyed sports.
Regarding groups showing upward trends, football ranked first throughout the period, with the figure steadily increasing from 40% in 1995 to 43% in 2005, respectively. In addition, swimming and rugby followed a similar pattern, starting at around 22% initially and reaching approximately 25% at the end of the period, with the exception that while swimming reached its peak at around 29% in 2000, rugby decreased to below 20% in the same year.
As for the remaining sports, snooker and tennis were relatively identical in the percentage of interested players, with the figures starting at around 30% in 1995 and recording figures at about 22% at the end of the period. Meanwhile, golf recorded balanced figures that hovered around 23% in 3-year period.
