The bar chart chart represents data regarding the proportions of the total world’s oil resources stored in nine parts of the world and other parts, with the percentages of total world annual oil consumption.
Overall, it is clear that Middle East contains the largest reserves of oil, while Asia and the US are the main world oil consumers. Likewise, in Eastern Europe, oil resources are roughly the same as their consumption.
In terms of distribution, the Middle East accounted for the largest share, at about 56%. This was followed by Canada with almost 15%, and Central and South America at around 8%. Moreover, the proportions of oil resources in Eastern Europe and Africa were approximately the same, while the figures for Asia, the USA, Western Europe and other countries were also similar, at about 2% each. By contrast, Australia and New Zealand made up less than 1% of the total.
With regard to consumption, Asia constituted the largest percentage of oil spending,at around 26%, with the USA slightly behind by 1%. On the other hand, the Middle East, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe each represented approximately 6%, in contrast to the USA and Western Europe, whose shares were a little above 1%.
