The bar chart illustrates the results of a European survey where young people are asked about their expectations for change across five aspects of life over the following 20 years.
From an overall perspective, most of the areas are dominated by the negative expectations excepting the communication between people, which also records the highest proportion of positive expectations . Notably, the quality of air in cities is anticipated to be worse by almost all the young individuals.
The interpersonal communication is expected to be improved and worse by 54% and 46% of young individuals respectively, while the quality of food records a relative balance between positive and negative predictions, with 49% for the former and 51% for the latter. Moreover, the quality of water exhibits a more marked disparity, with 40% of the expectations for the improvement and 60% of the expectations for the degradation.
Moving on to the remaining areas, the quality of air demonstrates a remarkable domination of negative expectations over the positive ones, with 70% for the former and only 23% for the latter. Meanwhile, health records an inconsiderable gap between two types of expectation, with 42% for the enhancement and 58% for the deterioration.
