The bar chart illustrates how four different states of dissertations done by students in a particular UK university varied in three separate years: 1990,2000, and 2010.
Overall, the number of dissertations completed on time and completed late increased to varying extents during the given period, whereas those that failed to write saw a considerable decrease and rewritten dissertations fluctuated. Notably, completed-on-time ones consistently remained by far the most common category in a UK university.
Regarding on-time and late completion, both categories showed upward trends throughout the examined years. The former began around 150 students in 1990, before surging to reach a peak of about 350 students in 2010. Following similar trends, the latter witnessed a double increase from approximately 20 students in 1990 to above 50 students in final years.
By contrast, the remaining state of dissertations showed a different tendency. In 1990, the number of students failing to write dissertations was over 50 students, after which it saw a remarkable decline around 5 students in 2010. The figure for students who had rewritten started at 1 student in 1990 and then rose 30 students in 2000 which changed position ranking from the least to the third to the final year.
