The bar chart compares the unit sales of tickets in two age cohorts by five types of films at the August cinema in 2020.
Overall, the number of sales in the 20-29 years old was recorded the highest in comedy movies, while the 10-19 age group has the highest sales in animated films. Additionally, people from 20-29 years old showed preference for romance, action and comedy, except for science and animation are popular in under twenty.
Romance, action and comedy appealed more to the 20-29 age group. The largest difference in sales between two groups was recorded in comedy, where the number of sales in 20-29 age bracket is around 160,000 tickets, which is over five times higher than that in 10-19 group. Similarly, the gap between 10-19 and 20-29 in romantic films was relative high, at around 120,000 and under 20,000 ticket sales. In contrast, the figures for unit sales of children and teenagers are nearly as high as that for moviegoers in their twenties, the difference is the smallest.
Science and animation were purchased more of those aged 10-19. Although people from 10 to 19 chose to watch animation is the highest, the other group was the least favoured of this genre with over 140,000 and around 60,000 sales relatively. Science fiction witnessed relative high sales in both two groups with nearly 140,000 tickets for 10-19 group and over 100,000 one for 20-to-29 age bracket.
