The data gives information about how many international migrants were in five countries – Germany, India, Russia, UK, USA – in 2000 and 2020 and their share in national population in 2020. Overall, the number of migrants increased in Germany, UK and USA, whereas the total number of migrants decreased in India and Russia. Similarly, the percentage of migrants in Germany, UK and USA were significantly higher than India and Russia.
The highest number of migration was in USA, around 15 million people came to USA over a twenty-year period. In the same way, the population of migrants in UK had doubled by 2020, reaching just under 10 million. Germany did not had the same trend as it was in the cases of UK and USA, although the number of migrants reached from 9 million to approximately 12 million in two decades. In contrast, Russia and India had the downward trend, estimating around 5 million and 11 million by 2020 respectively.
The percentage of migrants in Germany, UK and USA were somewhat similar, being about 14.7, 14 and 13.5 percent respectively. On the other hand, the number of migrants were considerably lower in India (0.4%) and Russia (8.1%) in comparison to other three countries.
