Initially, car theft was increased slightly to about 0.8 million between 1970 and 1980. However, in 1985 there was a considerable rise in car theft nearly 0.9. After that, it saw a gradual increase. As a result, it reached a peak about 1.6 million in 1995. But, there was a dramatic decrease to 1.0 million in the finaly years.
In contrast, the number of house burgling showed a gradual increase between 1970 and 1980. After that, there was a fluctuation in house burgling. This figure showed 0.7 million in 1990. However, there was a dramatic fall to 0.3 million in the final years. Then, street robbery remained stable at 0.1 million between 1970 and 1990.
