The given bar chart compares the daily hours used for free time activities by the youngest and oldest American in 2015. At first glance it is evident that, both age groups spent the most of their for watching television, the elderly people being dominant. In addition, the oldest population dedicated their most of amount of free time also for reading and relaxing while the youngest generations prioritized socializing, playing games and exercising.
Older people in the USA watched TV for about 4.5 hours per day whereas younger people allocated 2.5 hours for television which is 2 times less then the age groups over 75. The elderly people devoted an hour for reading, a substantial contrast to 15-19 age bracket, which they spent around 10 minutes for the same activity. The same pattern has been showed for relaxing and thinking, which age group of 75 years old and over dedicated a half an hour while their younger counterparts spent approximately 5 minutes.
A completely different image can be observed in the remaining activities. Socializing witnessed nearly the same figure for age category of 15-19 and over 75 for 45 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively. The youngest generations allocated about 1.5 hour for playing games which is twice as much as for the elderly, who spent 30 minutes.
