The bar chart illustrates the results of a survey that was taken among people who were interested in six different sports in the United Kingdom between 1995 and 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the majority of people liked football the most in all three years. The interest in swimming and rugby rose, while there was a decrease in interest in snooker, tennis, and golf.
In 1995, football was the most preferred sport among English people, with just over 40% of survey takers choosing it, and that number rose gradually to around 45% in 2005. Just over 20% of people followed swimming in 1995. However, that number had reached almost 30% in 2000 before dropping to roughly 25% of respondents liking it in 2005. In 1995, approximately 25% of people showed interest in rugby. In 2000, that number fell to marginally below 20%, after which it increased to about 28% in 2005.
Snooker, tennis, and golf showed similar trends. Exactly 30% of people enjoyed snooker in 1995, but that percentage had dropped by around 15% by 2005. Slightly below 30% of respondents had an interest in tennis in 1995, before that number decreased to about 23% in both 2000 and 2005. The interest in golf stayed relatively the same throughout the years, with approximately 25% of people enjoying it.
