The given chart compares the level of people’s enthusiam in some specific sports from 1995 to 2005, at 5 years intervals. Overall, football was the most attractive sport, holding the 1st place over the period. In addition, the figures for football, swimming and rugby underwent an upward trend, while the reverse was true for the remaining groups.
Regarding the increasing categories, there was over 40% of British prefered playing football in 1995. This proportion then steadily grew in the next 10 years, ending the period at the point of about 43%. In 1995, roughly 22% of the surveyed residents went for swimming; by 2005, the number climb to about 28% after going down by 4% in the last 5 years.
Concerning the decreasing groups, both snooker and golf experienced a drop in the first half of the period and then recovered, ending at approximately 23% and 26% respectively. The percentage of those loving tennis started at nearly 30%, fell to only 21% after 5 years and stay unchanged through the remaining period.
