The bar chart illustrates the amount of travel by five transport modes in the UK from 1990 to 2000.

Overall, it is noticeable that the total distance travelled, air travel, rail travel, and bus witnessed a steady increase, while both bicycle and motorbike usage experienced a considerable decline.

It is clear that the total distance travelled rose from 100 billion kilometres in 1990 to roughly 110 billion kilometres in 2000. Compared to other categories, air travel saw the most significant surge from approximately 7 billion kilometres to over 20 billion kilometres. In contrast, bus and rail travel showed slight growth, climbing from 42 billion kilometres in 1990 to 45 billion kilometres in 2000 and from 35 billion kilometres to 38 billion kilometres, respectively.

Conversely, both bicycle and motorbike travel saw the sharpest drop throughout the period. Specifically, bicycle travel started at 8 billion kilometres in 1990 and by 2000 had dropped sharply to 4 billion kilometres. On the other hand, motorbike usage fell rapidly to about 4 billion kilometres.
