The chart illustrates the proportions of residents in five Australian cities who consumed coffee and tea in three different ways: buying fresh coffee, buying instant coffee and visiting a cafe for coffee and tea.
Overall, going to cafes was the most popular choice in all cities, particularly in Malbourne and Hobart, wherease purchasing fresh coffee was the last preferred method. in contrast, instant coffee was relatively popular in Brisbane and Adelaide.
In terms of cafe visits, Melbourne recorded the highest figure at 64% ,closely followed by Hobart at approximately 63%. Sydney and Brisbane showed similar levels, with just over 60% of residents visiting cafes, while Adelaide had a slightly lower proportion at just under 50 %.When it comes to instant coffee, Brisbane and Adelaide topped the list, with around 55% and 50% respectively. Hobart also showed a high percentage at roughly 54%, whereas Sydney and Melbourne had lower figures, both at around 45%.
By contrast, buying fresh coffee was the least common habit across all five cities. Sydney had the highest proportion at about 44%, followed by Melbourne at roughly 42%. The remaining cities recorded even lower figures, with Adelaide showing the lowest level at just over 35%.
