The bar chart provides information about the number of men and women that visited the cinema to watch four types of movies, namely action, romcom, historical drama and western movies in 2018. The pie chart illustrates the proportion of cinemagoers based on four age groups (18-25 years, 26-44 years, 45-55 years, and 56 years and above).
Overall, it is evident from the bar chart that more men preferred to watch movies in the action and romcom genre, whereas women surpassed men in terms of historical drama and western movies. Western movies were the least interesting genre for both genders. The data from the pie chart shows that highest proportion of cinemagoers were in the age range of 26 to 44 while the lowest were people between the ages 45 and 55.
Among males, action was the most popular category with over 45 million people watching while under 30 million women enjoyed this genre. Historical drama held the first position in females with over 30 million viewers and only below 25 million men watched the same during the given year. In terms of romcom movies, it was the second favourite among males with over 35 million people watching and just above 25 million female viewers. Western movies recorded the lowest number of viewers with approximately 7 million females and around 5 million females watching.
In terms of different age groups, a striking 38%, the largest portion of cinemagoers were in the 26-44 years category while the smallest was people aged 44-55 years comprising only 6% of the whole. Around 31% viewers were between the ages 18 to 25 and those 56 and over comprised a quarter of the total cinemagoers.
