The given bar diagram shows the number of different drugs consumed by the school students of New Zealand in terms of percentage.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that the most popular drug among schoolchildren is marijuana. In addition to that, the percentage of boys consuming drugs is greater than that of girls in almost every category.
Moving into the details, about 4% of boys take amphetamines, cocaine, and solvents each. Marijuana or hashish tops the list of other drugs in popularity among boys with 33%, and heroin, opium, or morphine use is second on the list with 7%. In contrast to the others, the least-taken drugs are LSD and medical drugs.
In the case of the school girls, the proportion and pattern are almost similar to that of boys. Hashish, similar to that preferred by boys, is the most popular drug for girls, with 28% of them using it. Heroin, opium, or morphine is second, with 5% of consumers, followed by cocaine (4%) and solvents (3%). Lastly, the least popular drugs were amphetamines (2%), LSD (1%), and the use of medical drugs for enjoyment (1%).
