Overall, all household goods ownership rates increased over the period, with the exception of telephones, which witnessed a decline in ownership. The TV was the most popular item,the dishwasher was the least common item.
From 2004 to 2008, microwaves, CD players, clothes dryers, TVs and dishwashers rose significantly over the period. Individuals who used the microwaves and CD players increased from 65% to 73% and from 73% to 78%, respectively. While the number of dishwashers went up, the rate of people owning them was still the lowest. Besides, the percentage of TVs climbed slightly, from nearly 95% to 98%.
Turning to mobile phones, home computers and telephones. Between 2004 and 2008, the rate of mobile phone and home computer grew dramatically. The number of populations using them doubled since 2004. In contrast, the proportion of telephone users decreased minimally to approximately 82%.
