The bar chart compares the gender distribution of teachers in six different educational settings in the UK during the year of 2010.
Overall, it is clear that women are more likely to be employed in teaching youngsters in nursery and primary school while a large proportion of male teachers can be seen in higher educational institutions.
Women held a significant number of teaching posts in nursery where there were 19 times as many female as male. The same was also one sidedly true for primary school where women made up about 92%. In secondary school, there were also a majority of female teachers (around 52% vs 44%).
However, in higher education institutes such as private training institute and university, male lecturers outnumbered female, with the percentage of approximately 54% and 70% respectively. The percentage of the teaching posts for both genders were equally represented in college, at about 50% for both.
