The bar chart provides information on various pastimes that males and females in England engaged in.
Overall, watching TV was by far the most popular free-time activity for both genders, followed closely by spending time with family, whereas the reverse was true for playing video games. It is also clear that shopping and using the internet were exceptions in the chart demonstrating wide margins between genders.
Four categories out of seven demonstrated minimal discrepancies between men and women. Watching TV and devoting time to family were equally favored by both genders with just over 75%. Doing exercise and reading categories were slightly less popular with just under 75%, with men having slightly higher figures than their counterparts.
The remaining pursuits showed remarkable differences. Shopping was the activity which was opted for by three times more women than men (roughly 75% vs 25%). By contrast, using the internet was twice as popular for males than females, at around 75% and just over a third respectively. Computer games, however, were chosen by the smallest percentage of people, 15% on average.
