The diagram shows the usage of three types of taxi in the New York city every 6 month during three year period between 2015 and 2018. In general, the number of Yellow Taxi users decreased over time, while the 2 ride-sharing services became popular.
In January of 2015, Yellow Taxi had the highest number of tips, compared to Uber and Lyft, which was more than 400,000 trips per day. Over some fluctuations in january of 2016 it decreased noticeably to less than a 390,000 trips, after which this number started rising, and then decreased dramatically with some fluctuations until July of 2017. Following year it had another fluctuations in the number of trips, between 300,000.
Uber, compared to Yellow Taxi, had a huge difference in the number of daily trips in january of 2015, but until july of 2015 it started increasing slowly. By the july of 2017 it increased twice, from 80,000 to almost 200,000 respectively. In the following years it rocketed to more than 400,000 trips per day and left behind even the Yellow Taxi. If we look at the Lyfr, it is also have the same trend. IN 2015 only small number of people used it, then this number increased with some fluctuations, and in 2018 it reached it’s peak with nearly 100,000 daily trips.
