A glance at the pie charts and table provided the proportion of consumer’s preferences of sites and reasons for online shopping in Australia and New Zealand in 2012.
From a general perspective, it is explicit that most Australians prefer both websites, whereas New Zealanders usually use both sources equally. As regards the reasons, lower price were the main factor in both countries, however it were more prefered among Australians.
In Australia, 64% of users shopped from both local and international platforms. Only 12% used local only, and 24% chose overseas only. Regarding New Zealand, the figures for shopping from both sources amounted to 50%, and 36% using foreign only. A smaller share used only local planforms accounted for 14%.
As for the reasons, the highest percentage was lower price, which made up 59% in Australia and 51% in New Zealand. In comparison to both countries, the rate of the larger choice was popularity in New Zealand, at 34%, while in Australia it was 16%. The percentage of more convenient was more essential for Australia, at 23%, and 13% for New Zealand, whereas 2% in both countries included others.
