The chart illustrates gender and age comparisons between France and India in 1984.
Overall, the age structure of French residents fluctuated unpredictably, while in India it fluctuated rhythmically. France was a country with a larger elderly population, and India was a country with a high proportion of youngsters under 20 years old.
In terms of the population of France and India, there was a clear difference across age groups. It clearly showed that, under the age of 20, the Indian population was about 11% to 14%, while for France it was only 6% to 8% for both genders. The septuagenarians in India were somewhat lower than that of France, only about 3%, whilst France had a larger fluctuation range, from 1% to 3%.
Gender statistics were detailed in both charts. India’s under-20s still led in terms of gender, ranging from 5.5% to 7% for each gender. For France, this was a modest period when each gender only fluctuated from 3.5% to 4%. The gender ratio between France and India had a clear difference. While India had both genders quite equal, France fluctuated constantly across age groups.
